Just Jared (via: BleedingCool) has the first set photo of James Franco, Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis in The Escapist helmer Rupert Wyatt's Planet of the Apes prequel Rise of the Apes. The photo is interesting because you can see Serkis in his performance capture suit, complete with head camera (which captures facial movements). As you probably recall, the Apes in the movie are being created using CGI by the wonderful tram at WETA Digital, rather than the costumed actors we've seen in past installments of the franchise. WETA will employ "certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for AVATAR" and "will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors." Check out the full image after the jump. Previously: James Franco (Spider-Man/Milk) who is set to play the lead, "a young, driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes." Other co-stars ... feedproxy.google.com

A couple weeks ago, Sony released the full length movie trailer for David Fincher's The Social Network, which I must have watched over a dozen times by now. Is it awesome? Yes. Am I excited to see this movie? Definitely. FirstShowing has discovered a new one minute movie trailer for the film on YouTube, likely a one-minute tv spot airing on cable somewhere. It features Kanye West's new single "Power", which for the record, is not as good as the "Creep" cover by Scala & Kolacny Brothers. Watch the new trailer embedded after the jump. The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield and Joe Mazzello. Columbia Pictures has given the film a rumored $47 million budget. Based on Ben Mezrich's book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal, The Social Network tells the story of Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg, the ... feedproxy.google.com

While at Comic-Con, I had a chance to interview director Joseph Kosinski about the highly anticipated 3D sci-fi sequel Tron: Legacy. I talked with Joe about his recent transition from commercials to feature films, creating the biggest surprise in Comic-Con history, screening Tron Legacy for David Fincher, light jets and other tron vehicles we've yet to see in the trailers, the incredible viral marketing campaign for the film, and his next project, which might possibly be Oblivion. Joe: What is that funky app? Peter: Just a recorder iPhone app. Joe: OK, it’s cool. Peter: I am also going to record video if that’s OK with you. Is it OK? Joe: Uhh…. Peter: OK, no. That’s fine. Joe: I hate the handycam stuff. It’s just so odd. I like static compositions, you know? Get a tripod! Peter: Knowing you're cinematic style, that seems so you... Joe: Yeah. Joe: Did you get into Hall H yesterday? Peter: Yeah. Joe: Good. ... feedproxy.google.com
