Our Favorite Bill Murray Movie Moments art

There are not many comic actors as beloved as Bill Murray, and for very good reason. Since his mainstream debut as a 'Saturday Night Live' regular in 1977, his offbeat, goofball persona has mellowed into a deadpan, bone-dry humor that's equally, ... Read more

Lullabies art

National Gallery of Art, East Building Address: Constitution Ave. between 3rd and 4th Sts. NW, The Mall, Washington, DC, 20565 Friday, July 30, 2010, 3–4:26pm LullabiesJuly 11 at 4:30PMEast Building Concourse, Auditorium Introduction by Phil Solomon Stan Brakhage observed that many of Solomon's films address "the lost world of childhood, in direct opposition to every notion of the Romance of being young." This program features three tone poems surveying the midnight pmovie reviewsage from innocence to experience: The Secret Garden (1988), Clepsydra (1992), and The Snowman (1995). Also included is the finest of Solomon's hand-painted film collaborations with Brakhage, Seasons . . . (2002). The allegorical Twilight Psalm II: Walking Distance (1999) appears onscreen like a dream poured from noble metals: analogous, in the artist's words, to something found in "rusted medieval film cans . . . a two-reeler [from] a time when images were smelted and boiled rather than merely taken." (Total running time 86 minutes) More info:www.nga.gov…... ...

First Look: James Franco, Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis Filming ‘Rise of the Apes’ art

Just Jared (via: BleedingCool) has the first set photo of James Franco, Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis in The Escapist helmer Rupert Wyatt's Planet of the Apes prequel Rise of the Apes. The photo is interesting because you can see Serkis in his performance capture suit, complete with head camera (which captures facial movements). As you probably recall, the Apes in the movie are being created using CGI by the wonderful tram at WETA Digital, rather than the costumed actors we've seen in past installments of the franchise. WETA will employ "certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for AVATAR" and "will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors." Check out the full image after the jump. Previously: James Franco (Spider-Man/Milk) who is set to play the lead, "a young, driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes."
